Abstract

Telah dilakukan penelitian aktivitas penghambatan xantin oksidase terhadap ekstrak etanol daun salam (Syzygium polyanthum (Wight) Walp.) secara In Vitro. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui aktivitas penghambatan xantin oksidase dari daun salam. Pengujian aktivitas penghambatan xantin oksidase ekstrak daun salam dilakukan dengan metode in vitro menggunakan spektrofotometri UV pada panjang gelombang 293 nm. Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak daun salam dapat menghambat biosintesis asam urat melalui penghambatan aktivitas enzim xantin oksidase dengan nilai IC50 139,61 ppm lebih rendah bila dibandingkan allopurinol dengan nilai IC50 0,59 ppm.
